This page is dedicated to my mother and her Lewy Body Dementia Drive Across America.
The Lewy Body Dementia Drive Across America started with Barbara Hutchinson quiting her job so that she could take care of her husband who was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2004 and was diagnosed with LBD in 2005. She had a vision to drive across the United States speaking at different civic organizations, churches or anyone who was interested in learning more about LBD. She began in March of 2006 in Valdez, AK and completed the drive in Fort Myers, FL where they currently reside. She and my father drove their motor home visiting family, friends, caregivers and spoke to many organizations along the way. My father has deteriorated so much that she has had to put her dedication to the raising awareness on the back burner in order to focus on caring for my father.
